Connecting the past to the present
In some places, the Jewish are still persecuted because people are still holding onto the old beliefs that all Jews are bad. Since the Holocaust, and World War II ended, people have hoped for peace. The Holocaust is a great tragedy in history, and will forever be remembered. The past is something to learn from, and looking at the Holocaust, people can see what hatred can do to people. If everyone were to acknowledge the Holocaust, perhaps the world would not be filled with hate. The following generations will be taught, and they will learn from the mistakes that have been made by governments and leaders. It is only because of people's intolerance of mistreatment that is keeping history from repeating itself.
The present has learned from this mistake, seeing as there has not been a World War III. However, people of the present day must remember what those in the past went through to get where everyone is here today. Ignorance is an excuse to not acknowledge the surroundings of an individual. This was the same case with the Holocaust, as many people saw Jews being pushed onto trains and transported to concentration camps, yet no one did anything. Since technology is more advanced, people are not as ignorant of their surroundings. The great thing about having a past and present is that there is going to be a future, and there is still hope to make the future a better place, where people can be more accepting.
Questions:
- Why do people, even to this day, not believe the Holocaust?
- Why didn’t anyone do anything?
- Why was Hitler against people that are not blond haired and blue eyed?
- How did Hitler come up with the motivation?
- How can we learn from this?
